Top Barn Farm Park provides a living classroom, ideal for schools studying key stages 1 and 2. These school groups are also perfect for nurseries and playgroups. Our Farm Park offering is overflowing with interactive, educational opportunities and cross-curricular learning. We aim to provide schools with a stimulating experience in all aspects of modern farming. The day consists of river studies, woodland walks, and projects based on the different business established on site.
Our activities have been designed to give a closer understanding of issues such as our crop management, livestock welfare, and environmental management. The school group days are also great for geography field trips or business study projects.
We offer schools a year-round programme of activities as well as being able to explore the farm on our 30 seater people trailer. Other activities include lambing days to crop investigation walks, hedgerow exploration, and natural habitats. Our activities encourage children to understand the links between farming, food and the environment. We can offer plenty of hands-on opportunities, including bottle-feeding lambs and kids, feeding the donkeys and hens and handling rabbits and guinea pigs. You will also get to explore and use of all our farm park activities.
With undercover areas available and a covered trailer, most activities can be completed in all weathers. A special area has been created where your group can enjoy a packed lunch. Alternatively, we can provide packed lunches to suit your needs and dietary requirements.
Here at Top Barn Farm Park health and safety are of paramount importance. To help teachers and group leaders prepare for a visit, we provide full risk assessments and hygiene advice. We emphasise to every group the importance of thorough hand-washing when handling animals and provide all the facilities required.
